How Roomly works

Roomly connects guests looking for a stay in Nigeria with the owners of hotels and shortlets. Guests book and pay through Paystack, the host confirms, and the host’s share is released after check-in. Here is each step, on both sides.

Booking a stay: step by step

  1. Find a stay. Browse hotels, shortlets and apartments by city, or search by name, area or amenity. Only listings the Roomly team has approved are publicly visible.
  2. Choose your dates. Roomly checks the listing is free for the nights you want. The price you see is the nightly rate multiplied by the number of nights, plus a flat service fee.
  3. Pay through Paystack. Payment is processed by Paystack. Roomly holds the host’s share rather than releasing it immediately.
  4. Wait for the host to confirm. Your booking sits at awaiting approval until the host confirms it. If a paid booking is not confirmed within 24 hours, it is cancelled automatically and a full refund is queued.
  5. Check in. You get a confirmation email with your dates and the property. After your stay you can leave one review of that booking.

Hosting a property: step by step

  1. Create an owner account. Sign up as a hotel owner or a shortlet owner.
  2. Add your listing. Photos, description, location, amenities and pricing. Hotels are organised into suites and the rooms inside them; shortlets are listed as a single property.
  3. Wait for approval. The Roomly team reviews every new listing before it is publicly visible. Editing an approved listing sends it back for review, and it is hidden until approved again.
  4. Confirm booking requests. When a guest pays, you have 24 hours to confirm. After that the booking is cancelled and the guest is refunded.
  5. Withdraw your earnings. Your share is credited to your pending balance, becomes available once the guest’s check-in date has passed, and can be withdrawn to a Nigerian bank account verified through Paystack.

Common questions

How do I book a stay on Roomly?

Find a listing on roomly.ng or in the Roomly app, choose your check-in and check-out dates, and pay through Paystack. Your booking then moves to "awaiting approval" until the host confirms it. You receive an email once it is confirmed.

Does a host have to accept my booking?

Yes. Paying reserves your request, and the host confirms it. If a paid booking is not confirmed within 24 hours it is cancelled automatically and a full refund is queued.

How do I list a property on Roomly?

Create an owner account as a hotel owner or a shortlet owner, then add your listing with photos, pricing, location and amenities. The Roomly team reviews every new listing, and it becomes publicly visible only once it is approved.

When do hosts get paid on Roomly?

When a guest pays, the host’s share is credited to their pending balance. It moves to their available balance after the guest’s check-in date passes, and can then be withdrawn to a Nigerian bank account verified through Paystack.
